Additional supportive evidence: PMID: 34231842 (Wang et al 2021) - Cfap65-/- male mice show severe asthenoteratospermia characterized by morphologically defective sperm heads and flagella. Proteomic analysis shows that when CFAP65 is lost the proteostatic system during acrosome formation, manchette organization and MS assembly was disrupted.

9 patients with multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella (MMAF) or completely immotile spermatozoa, in which, homozygous or compound heterozygous truncating CFAP65 variants were identified. Cfap65-mutated male mice displayed typical MMAF phenotypes with severe morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella (PMID: 31501240, 31413122).
